Deckers wanted to build loyalty with their UGG customer base, remove third-party software for operations and reduce the amount of training required for store clerks. I worked as part of a team to build Crest, one platform to cover all in-store needs.
My role was to build out the design system and MVP, with a unique requirement of it being a tablet-first design.
Our research showed that store clerks would be using the platform in busy, potentially dimly lit stores, while multitasking with customers. With this in mind, I took a functional approach to the design. I used bold, high contrast typography and avoided fiddly components like dropdowns, opting for things like word chips instead.
